BIO
Bora York is a synthpop band based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Initially intended as mellow folk songs, along the process, songwriter Chris Bartels started playing with more synthesizers, ambient textures were filled out, and the acoustic intentions were left behind for a full-on, heavily layered indie-pop sound. Debut album Dreaming Free was born, and released in 2013, with tracks landing on USA Network’s Mr. Robot and FOX’s The Middle.
Follow-up LP Secret Youth expanded on their sound, taking it to a tighter, funkier place, all while maintaining the ethereal dream-pop feel, and garnered praise from esteemed music journalists, including Indie Shuffle, Earmilk, and Neon Gold, who summed it up as “summertime sadness.”
Their third full-length album, the aptly named Emotion Vertigo, exploring the ups and downs of life and creative journeys across the spectrum, a passionate step back to what it’s always been all about - the music itself.
